COME ON in...GRAB a MELODY from the PAST... TAKE your TIME...ENJOY the MUSIC... A time when everyone knew who they were A time when you went to school, graduated or dropped out, got a job, got married & had kids ---- in that order! The ONLY PLACE! WE MOVED a Little FAST To Back Then... WAS on the DANCE FLOOR.... So much to REMEMBER....WHEN... There were Sockhops at the gym...Movies cost a quarter... Coonskin caps...HotDogs cost fifteen cents... Clarabelle & Howdy Doodie.....Yep! I had a Howdy Doodie doll... Come to think of it I DID have a Coonskin cap also! Well what about-Only black & white tv's.. didn't even come on until the afternoon...and there wasn't but a couple of stations in my area... First we started off with the Mouseketeer's...then came American Bandstand for the teeny bumpers & the wannabe's (pre-teens)... OH!!! YES I was a Teenager during the Rockin' 50's.... the Memories roll on & on!!! REMEMBER...the cars...dual glass pack mufflers.. wide white wall tires & shiny chrome bumpers...I guess about the most dangerous thing we did back then, was a little Drag Racin' out on the country roads. Who could forget those Friday & Saturday nights at the Drive-In Movies... didn't matter what was playing, just a great place to show off your wheels and maybe a little neckin' in between trips to the snack-bar for some hotdogs, cokes & popcorn... Heck! most of the time the speakers didn't work anyhow...even been known to drive off with one still attached in the window.. After the movie...if you still had time before your curfew..everyone would meet at the local BBQ joint in my town...had a nice parking area in the back...there you could talk to your friends & listen to the music playing over the juke box... Three for a Quarter..... Sometimes we'd do a little Rockin' Rollin' to tunes like ....LUCILLE.... OR.... maybe again do a little Neckin'...while we listened to some sLoW...tunes like .....LAST DATE.... Gosh!!! Just thinking back to those long ago years makes me want to "Get Lost In The 50's".... for a little while longer..... Why don't you stay with me for just a few minutes more....close your eyes...
